Tux and Tie: magic or tragic?

One thing that bugged me about Sunday nights Emmy's was the amount of guys wearing a tux with a black tie. This isn't uncommon especially in Hollywood. For me it just doesn't sit right, in some cases it actually looks like a lazy move. For example check out Alec Baldwin who wore quite a bold tux from Zegna which really would of made a statement with a bow but instead big Al chose a loosely knotted black tie. another example was Neil Patrick Harris who wore a beautiful deep claret Dolce & Gabbana dinner jacket for which he then matched up with a slim stripe tie. Bad form for a man who was presenting for the evening. Jason Bateman almost gets it passable in his Dior Homme ensemble if it wasn't for his attempted Windsor knot with the Dior slimline collar. Best of the bunch had to be Jeff Daniels in Prada. Oozed class even if I'm not a fan of the look I couldn't deny Mr Daniels the fact that he looked good. Even with this salute I'm still not budging. If you go for a satin lapel you simply have to tie that bow.
