ClimaCOOL

I spotted these Adidas climacools from the David Beckham/ James Bond collaboration a few months ago when the promo photos were released for S/S 12 campaign. I have to be honest with you guys, the orange pair has really got a hold on me! Now calling them bold is a slight understatement and is definitely something i would've embraced in my younger years without a second of hesitation. But as i enter the twilight of my twenties and I become more mature and formal with everyday ( I blame David Gandy for his styling influences!!- I'll explain in a future post) I do have to stand back and have a second thought.
The original climacools which debuted in 2002. I had these and although they were launched as a sports performance trainer, I used to love wearing them with a cool pair of customised Levi's and a white t-shirt. It was my take on the Nike air max look that a lot of guys put together with denim and casualwear from the late nineties.
The David Beckham obyo climacool range for A/W12.
I am looking at wearing the updated climacools with these Adidas David Beckham L.A. joggers, rolled up track bottoms and some cool PRPS denim.

the new edition of GQ

If you haven't purchased the new edition of GQ yet I suggest you do so as its top notch this month! I am a big fan of the British men's publication but I'm the first to admit that some months it does go cold but in this issue its packed to the rim with great men's fashion and content. First off the cover, in which up and coming Irish actor Michael Fassbender takes part in a fantastic photo shoot wearing Armani and Gucci. He is also wearing the shirt of the moment from Smyth & Gibson.
Also there is a great feature article on one of my style icons for whom I just recently posted on, Lapo Elkann. In this piece you'll get more of an insight into the crazy world he lives in and has created for himself as well as his past. Also there is a great quote from Sir Tom ford in there about why Lapo is a style icon.
The Omega seamaster planet ocean co-axial chrono. After seeing this beauty in GQ, I have to say this is my new favourite watch!
One of the things I always look out for in GQ is when designers advertise their new season campaigns. In this issue we have Pradas new poster boy, actor Micheal Pitt taking over from Tobey Maguire as well as Yves Saint Laurent, Burberry, Zegna, Gucci and Bottega Veneta. My Favourite designers Dolce and Gabbana have seem to have gone in a different direction with their family portrait showcasing women swear and menswearr together for their new campaign. Personally I prefer seeing the Dolce "rat pack" boys of Gandy, Mills and Senn on show but I'm sure it will grow on me.
Finally Fashion editor Giorgina Waltier goes about her normal business of cherry picking some great pieces for her Men's fashion picks for this month. This includes some mega cool Tom Ford shades, Dr martens brogues, pastel shirts and the new adidas originals range with an archive collection of past team GB leisurewear. I'm looking forward to seeing more of that range as I'm a massive adidas junkie!

My vegas outfit!

While I was out shopping the other week I saw a pretty cool off white shawl collar tux jacket from H&M which surprisingly fitted me superbly. It got me thinking that there is no way I'd dare wear this out in London town, so where could i get aware with this little beauty? Then it hit me.... Vegas! it just so happens that myself and my wolf pack are planning on hitting the state of Nevada again on the final leg of our American road trip for our big 30 next year. Then like the fashion geek I am I tried to piece together what I'd wear it with and this is what I came up with...
I am a big wearer of a vest with a tailored jacket. For me its the scoop neck line of a vest that does it for me and it a rare look as I've only really seen David Gandy and top men's stylist Joe Ottaway pull it off with tailoring. I'm picturing this cool James Dean print vest from Thomas Codd London ( I'm going to be profiling this guy and his collection soon on my blog as he is up and coming in the world of men's fashion) www.thomascoddlondon.com/
To finish this look I'm going to go for a pair of Dior homme denim jeans with a pair of Brooks Brothers velvet slippers. Anyway I hope you didn't mind me sharing my outfit fantasy?? I know right, I got to get out more! Vegas here I come!!

The faux fur collar jacket

I first saw this style of jacket a few years ago and thought it was really cool and its really on trend this season as you can see from the above picture of Adam Senn in the Dolce & Gabbana AW 11 campaign. Also new brand on the block the Kooples have got in on the act just below with this single breasted version.
Here is this seasons version from Reiss that is a gorgeous mocha colour with black colour and the fit is amazing. I am definitely eyeing this up for my formal occasion wardrobe especially as I've just seen it go into the winter sale!

My vintage hunt is on!

Seeing as we've just entered 2012 I've made a few objectives to get done this year. One of them being going on a vintage shopping trip in and around London trying to track down these targets. My first being some vintage rock t-shirts to add to my collection. I know a few years back we had the whole rolling stones emblem with diamante's all over it phase that most men smashed, but regardless I think rare, vintage rock t shirts are cool whether or not there in the fashion trend bible.
The next target is a fairly bleached denim Levi jean jacket. I've owned a few in the past but for me the hunt is on to find one that has the right fit for me so I can button all the way up to the neck but not be too over sized. Awkward i know but I am determined to find one! Also for the last few years I've been looking for a maroon leather jacket that again fits to perfection.
And like I mentioned previously I am still on the look out for the perfect flying jacket.

Its all about Bois d'argent

For you guys out there that are looking for the "it" fragrance I thought I'd share with you what are my favourites. The ultimate for me is Christian Dior's Hedi Slimane designed Bois d'argent, a fragrance laced with honey, iris and patchouli. The scent is truly amazing, its strong but not over powering. If anyone gets the chance I would definitely recommend visiting the specialised Dior's fragrance area at Selfridges in London. There are so many fragrances to choose from if Bois d'argent isnt for you and the service you'll receive is top drawer from the team on the counter from scent knowledge to brilliant customer service.

Another favourite of mine is Dior homme and the intense version. I got hooked on this from the launch in 2004 and has always been in my wash bag. Its main note is vetiver and that proberly explains why I also love Tom Fords grey vetiver, another top fragerance.

My missus got me this Miller Harris fragrance for Christmas and I absolutely love it! it has a woody, smoky essence with pine needles, sage and tabbaco.

STYLE ICON: Lapo Elkann

I first came across the flamboyant Mr Elkann in an issue of Vogue homme where he did an article on his Italian bachelor pad. Now I'm a real fan of Italian fashion and the confidence that Italian men have when they dress but what stands out about Lapo is he simply takes it to another level! I am a massive admirer of  Lapo's signature capsule wardrobe consists of fine Italian tailoring, loafers, knitted ties and through the winter fine wool scarves matched with a tailored jacket. Lapo's eccentricity shines through in his accessories, for instance hes a fan of brightly coloured rimmed sunglasses and trilby hats. Also he is well known for putting together some very colourful combinations when it comes to his formal attire, which is so admirable as it just seems so natural to him! In a fashion world where a lot of people follow from each season what colours and styles are in and out, Lapo Elkann simply rips the menswear manual into shreds.
I love this A/W look as Lapo pairs a beautiful DB jacket with trousers, loafers and scarf.
Even at the beach Lapo's effortless style shines through. Here he is with his trademark trilby and neon pink shades.
Signore Elkann in a great summer look with blazer, shorts and brown suede tassel loafers. There's not many men that can pull off a baby blue suit, but Lapo Elkann does it like its water off a duck back! Again its this confidence and serious swagger that makes Lapo one of my style icons.
