get yourself a cable knit people!

While in London town the weather is still pretty mild, I have my radar on a purchase that I wanted over the summer but it has eluded me so far... The cable knit jumper. For this time of year its a great cross over piece that you can layer up with as that temperature drops.
Mr David Gandy shows us how to wear it in the summer with denim, shades and sandals then how to wear it in the winter dressing the jumper up with tweed jacket and formal trousers.
I love this cashmere Ralph Lauren version in this aqua blue
Pharell  Williams looking super fly as ever wearing his cable knit with a basic white tee and Ray bans. Imagine this look with loose fit Japanese denim and white high tops..
I also love this Zara cable knit in a nice bronze colour

Beck's new timepiece

I'm not feeling Mr Beckham's new timepiece from the king of the bling watches Jacob & co. Though admittedly its better looking and more to date than the diamond in crusted bezel's that was featured in every R&B video and footballers wrist in the early naughties. Make your own mind up guys!

what Gary and Dermot have been up to...

One things for sure Dermot O'Leary and Gary Barlow definitely have the X factor when it comes to their weekend television formal attire. Dermot keeps it simple, very new wave savile row as he alternates his suits from Thom Sweeney and Spencer Hart ( my two favourite British tailors at the moment)  as well as E Tautz ties and amazing custom made shirts from Emmett.

Gary on the other hand goes for the designer heavyweights when it comes to looks. Here we see him in Tom Ford, Roberto Cavalli and Yves Saint Laurent paired with great accessories such as tie pins, knit ties and piccadilly shirts.

Steve McQueen collection for Barbour

Barbour have recently brought out a really cool collection that is based around the icon that is Steve McQueen and the range is based around the clothing he wore when he raced motorbikes.

Two of the pieces I'm eyeing up is this maroon cardigan and wax jacket which I'm sure you'll agree look pretty special!

hat's off to you Jude

On Wednesday night Mr Jude Law stepped out to promote his new film 360 making a big fashion statement wearing a trilby hat with his grey suit. Personally I am a massive fan of Jude's sense of style and of this throw back to the 50s Hollywood glamour look for which he totally nails.
I only caught these pictures of Jude on Friday night as I was looking through empire.com but on Wednesday morning something freaky happened that relates to this subject. As I was walking past Brooks Brothers in the city of London, a gentleman shot out of the exit wearing a dark charcoal wool two button suit, red knit tie, bit of stubble and wait for it... a trilby hat! At the time I really thought "hey, that guy looked super cool" and after seeing  Jude bust this look its making me think maybe I should follow suit???

I found these potential targets in Reiss and Paul Smith. I really am feeling this look on a grey miserable autumn / winter day paired with suit, overcoat and my driving gloves.

my dream cardigan

While browsing the amazing MR PORTER.COM I came across this masterpiece from Ralph Lauren in the form of a belted shawl cardigan. I absolutely love this as you could wear this dressed down with a pair of jeans and tshirt and dressed up with a sharp shirt and lace ups. The main pull of this cardigan is the belt that gives it that va va voom and sets it apart from any other thick knit cardigan. All I need to do now is try and find a spare £1,050!

Barlow watch

As I mentioned in one of my previous posts about the rise of Mr Gary Barlow as a growing style icon I did mention I would be keeping an eye on his choice of outfit for the live x factor shows. Well he didn't disappoint in a Vivienne Westwood jacket and waistcoat combo (the waistcoat is actually attached to the jacket) with a white button down shirt with open collar. Also this is all about the big curved lapels which gives this jacket the wow factor! Bravo Mr Barlow.

YSL growing in the USA

I know it was few months back but at the MTV video music awards I noticed Yves Saint Laurent was popping up all over the place on the guys. I actually like the styling on Justin Bieber above with the tux jacket, YSL pendant, gold chains and red denim. Not a fan of the leopard print sneakers though!!!
Here is Big Sean in a £3,000 YSL mock neck sweater cardigan paired with a vintage gold Versace belt and Rolex. I do like aspects of urban hip hop fashion when it comes to dressing down and being in casual mode i.e. the baseball caps, loose fit jeans and high tops. Also from a stylists perspective I like the way that by adding to the basic hip hop look of a baggy tee and denim, a real high end luxury piece like this zip up takes it to another level.
As a brand theYSL logo is recognisable around the world and I have to say its a clever move targeting the US and the hip hop market to advertise the brand. Watch out for US stars and celebs showing off the famous three letters..
